Recently reopened after a £15m refurbishment. Smaller than London alternatives but perfectly sized for younger children. The vivarium with live animals adds something different. Combine with a walk around the University of Manchester campus. Terms: Free entry for adults and children. Special exhibitions occasionally ticketed.
